What is a S.T.A.R. Notebook? S.T.A.R. stands for Students Taking Academic Responsibility.

It is a 3-ring binder notebook that contains EVERYTHING you and your child need to keep up with school. No more wrinkled papers in the bottom of book bags. No more lost notes, newsletters or calendars. No more searching the house to find paper to write the teacher a note. Everything is in one notebook!

Why is it important to have? This notebook helps your child establish good organizational skills during his/her first years of school -skills that can carry on throughout their time in school.
1.  Very Important Papers-  This front pocket holds the important information between home and school.  Ex: excuse for absence; letter to P.E.; sheets for PTO

2. Daily Assignment-  This is where you can find your daily homework assignments.

3.  Homework Section- Homework will be put here after each subject.  Please complete at home and place your work back here.

4.  Reading Log-  You should read at least 20 minutes every night.  Complete one line of the reading log every time you read a book.  Don’t forget to have your parent sign it after your read.

5.  ParentInformation Section-  This section has the parent handbook with classroom procedures, class rules, S.T.A.R. rules, class list, etc.  Please keep this in the S.T.A.R. notebook for future reference.

6.  Parent/Teacher Talk-  Your parents and I will use this section for communication purposes.  There will always be a supply of paper here.

7.  Super-Duper Section-  This is where you will put completed/graded work.  Any work placed here will need to be taken out and kept at home.
